Flower Care Tips

If you want to make your flowers stay fresh longer use the easy tips given below from the start.

Cut the Stems. Use garden shears to trim 1-2 inches off at an angle. Cutting stems at an angle allows for better intake of water intake. Re-trimming your bouquet once every few days will ensure freshness for a longer time.

Prune

Remove leaves below the water line. This will make the bouquet look better and prevent bacterial growth. Flowers like roses have guard petals that are the 2 or 3 outmost petals of the flower. If you take away these, the flower can open fully.

Check your flowers daily for dead or loose leaves and petals to avoid bacterial rot.

Water Wisely

Pick a clean vase, fill it with room temperature water and add in a packet of flower food. Mix the packet properly, the water shouldn’t be too diluted or concentrated. Place your flowers inside the vase.

It is important to clean the vase thoroughly and change the water and flower food every 2-3 days.

Avoid Direct Sunlight, Heat, Drafts and Fruit

Cooler temperatures will help your flowers last longer. Avoid direct sunlight or places near appliances that generate heat. Avoid open windows, heating or cooling vents and ceiling fans as they cause dehydration in fresh flowers.

Ripening fruits release ethylene gas which can reduce the longevity of fresh flowers, so keep flowers away from fruits.
